Editor's Review:

Going through any legal encounter can be a stressful and expensive process, whether it's simply updating your will or potentially facing a courtroom. LawDepot.co.uk hopes to alleviate the pressure on you and your wallet by providing a wide range of easy to use legal documents, as well as a variety of useful legal information and services. Importantly, it offers the option to purchase individual documents or to subscribe to the site in order to have unlimited access to as many documents as you need, meaning it should have something for everyone.

The variety of documents available on this site is fairly substantial, with the majority of popular documents fitting into one of 5 categories: estate, real estate, financial, business or employment. Each of these areas is easily accessible and simple to navigate through from a series of tabs.

Meanwhile if you're looking for something a bit more unusual then these can also be found, with anything ranging from debtor letters to child travel consent forms. The full list of documents available isn't necessarily as long as you'll find elsewhere but it covers most of the main legal documents that people require. It's certainly worth checking this list before making any kind of subscription decision, though, as you'll want to make sure that they have the exact forms you require.

A potential bonus to this site is that you are able to easily move between the UK, US and Canadian versions, so if you're someone who has dealings in the UK and abroad then it could really come in handy and save you a lot of money on making unnecessary additional subscriptions on other sites. Each form comes with a short description (which really could be expanded), and, once you select a document, you are able to then see an FAQ regarding its particulars. This is very useful because it means that you'll be able to view answers to common questions on any document you're interested in purchasing.

As well as this, any documents you have viewed and edited will be stored in your user area, meaning that you can easily locate and edit them in the future. The storage space is unlimited, making it a great deal if you plan on producing and editing lots of documents over an extended period.

You are covered by £10,000 worth of insurance if you should encounter damages due to one of their documents being inaccurate.

In terms of price, whilst buying one document is not  the absolute cheapest you'll find (between £10 and £30, which is about average, perhaps a little cheaper than you will find on the majority of sites) there are several documents which you can view for free. These are usually blank, though, so if you're not sure what you need to write in the spaces then you may wish to seek out a completed version elsewhere.

The system for filling in the forms is very simple and requires you to simply fill in a questionnaire. Thereafter, your forms are completed for you, and they can then be downloaded and printed or stored as a file on your computer.

Depending on your subscription, you can access these files indefinitely. In fact, you can choose from three purchase methods. You can buy a single document or you can choose from one of two subscription packages. The year long subscription offers by far the best value, although it's most suited to someone who needs to produce at least 4 documents a year. Otherwise it might be cheaper simply to pay for individual documents as you need them. Whatever you choose, the site still offers very good value for money.

The standard of customer service is promising, with email, phone or live chat options. Live chat in particular could be useful because it's free and instant. The FAQ thankfully includes a search option, although when browsing its main questions, we didn't get the impression that it was particularly extensive.

LawDepot also offers a money back guarantee if you are dissatisfied with its service or products, and you are covered by £10,000 worth of insurance if you should encounter damages due to one of their documents being inaccurate.

Extra features aren't plentiful but they are all useful and include the ability to ask a lawyer a question or even access a law library. The law library is well organised and allows you to view articles that are specific to USA, UK, Canadian or Australian law. You can also search the library and its glossary to find specific information, making it a very user friendly addition.

LawDepot.co.uk offers very good value for high quality documents. Its year-long subscription will be particularly useful to anyone who will need to produce and edit multiple legal documents over 12 months, whilst its general support and additional features make it a solid and reliable pair of hands.
