RocketLawyer claims that it is “dedicated to making it easy for everybody to have access to the law”, but how far do they go to achieving this goal? Well we were pleasantly surprised by their dedication to this mantra as they provide a free three day trial, the ability to create one document for free and reduced prices for legal representation through their site. Those things combined, it does seem as though they're going to some efforts to make sure that legal advice and representation is more accessible to the public.  

Where the site doesn't quite fulfill its promise to the same level, we felt, was in the amount of free information it provides. Whilst it's true that they have provided some information, and links to people who might be able to help, we would like to see more in the way of a community or database of information being made available. This truly would enable and empower the 'everyman' by allowing them to access the law for themselves. As it is, you're still fairly reliant on their services.  

So what about the site itself, and the products and services it provides? Well the site is easy to navigate for the most part, with key areas (Family, Business, Find a lawyer, Pricing and Help and Guidance) just a click away. Each of those is split into subsections which provide several documents that may be of use. The number of documents available is somewhat limited, though, and could use expansion. Compared with some of the big players in legal forms, Rocket Lawyers is at the lower end of the quantity scale. But of course, quantity isn't everything, and the forms themselves do seem to be of a high quality.

When you've decided which form you want to begin working on, you'll be presented with a very useful screen that describes the form, how long it will take to complete and what the form can be used for. This is a simple but effective addition which helps you to understand exactly who the documents have been designed for and how they might be used. You can also see which other forms were created by customers who created the same form as you, giving some indication as to other relevant legal forms. This could again be expanded with the the site making recommendations as to which forms you may be interested in, perhaps even with some information on each one to help you understand what might be required of you legally.   

Documents aside, legal help is available if required. It's good to see that you're not simply left in the lurch once your forms have been paid for. You can also view the team members, which gives a clear idea of the specialisations of the company, and who you might wish to contact regarding any particular issue. The team's a small one, meaning that you may need to wait in busy periods, but the flip side is that you're likely to receive personal help from someone who will remember your case and your needs.  

Rocket Lawyers does a decent job at making the world of law more accessible to the public. It could improve, but then who couldn't? Overall it offers a solid service at a reasonable price, with a few little touches that give the impression they really care about the people using their services.
